Cyprus Registration for Foreign Companies
- Asticrest helps existing foreign companies apply for Cyprus tax registration and assists companies incorporated in other EU member states with Cyprus employer registration. We help organise supporting documents, prepare applications and liaise with the relevant authorities within the agreed scope.
- You may need tax registration, employer registration or both. We discuss your circumstances, the documents required and the scope and fee before starting.
Foreign Company Tax Registration
- Assistance with registering an existing foreign legal entity with the Cyprus Tax Department and obtaining a Cyprus tax identification number.
- Organisation of home-country company documents, authorised representative details and supporting information required for the application.
- Support with the registration process and identifying the relevant filing arrangements within the agreed scope.
- Tax registration does not itself establish Cyprus tax residence or determine whether the company has a taxable permanent establishment. The applicable obligations depend on its activities and circumstances.

EU Company Employer Registration
- An existing EU company can apply to register as an employer in Cyprus. The Social Insurance Services also provide a registration route for employers established in other EEA states and Switzerland.
- The official process requires the relevant company-registration documents issued by the employer’s home-country registry to accompany the application.
- Asticrest can assist with employer registration, organisation of supporting documents, employee onboarding notifications and the payroll setup within the agreed scope.
- Arrange registration and new-hire notifications before employment starts. Tell us the proposed start date and the employees’ working arrangements early in the process.
- For ongoing payroll calculations, Social Insurance administration and payslips, see our Payroll Services.
Do you need to form a Cyprus company or register a branch?
- An existing EU company can register as an employer in Cyprus without incorporating a new Cyprus company. In some cases, it can employ staff in Cyprus without needing to register a branch and without creating a Cyprus tax permanent establishment. The position depends on the company’s activities and working arrangements, assessed under the applicable law and tax treaty. Employer registration alone does not determine either outcome.
- Employer registration, registration of an overseas company’s local place of business and tax permanent-establishment status are separate matters.
- If a foreign company establishes a place of business in Cyprus, a separate registration obligation with the Registrar of Companies can arise. The Registrar’s guidance states that registration is required within one month of establishing that place of business.
- A tax permanent establishment depends on the relevant law, treaty and actual working arrangements. It is not a company incorporated at the Registrar.
- We do not treat tax or employer registration as a guarantee that no branch registration or permanent-establishment obligations arise. Where legal advice is required, we can facilitate an introduction to AGP Law under a separate engagement.
Documents and Application Process
- The entity’s country of incorporation, registration certificate and current company-registry information.
- Details of authorised representatives and authority for the application.
- A description of the company’s activities, its Cyprus connections and why registration is required.
- For employer registration: proposed staff numbers, start dates, work locations and employment arrangements.
- Existing Cyprus tax or Social Insurance registrations, if any.
- The final document list depends on the entity and registration requested. Translations or additional evidence may be required by the authority.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do we need to incorporate a new Cyprus company?
- An existing EU company can apply for Cyprus employer registration without incorporating a new Cyprus company. In some cases, neither branch registration nor a Cyprus tax permanent establishment arises. The position depends on the company’s activities and working arrangements under the applicable law and tax treaty.
Which documents should we provide?
- Start with your home-country registration certificate, current company-registry information, authorised representative details and a description of your Cyprus activities. For employer registration, also provide proposed staff numbers, start dates and working arrangements. We identify the final document requirements for your application.
Can tax and employer registration be handled together?
- Yes. We can coordinate support for both applications within an agreed engagement. Tax registration and employer registration remain separate processes, with their own requirements.
How are fees agreed?
- We discuss the registrations required, the documents available and the administration involved, then agree the scope and fee before starting. Ongoing payroll support can be arranged separately.
