Payroll Services in Cyprus

  • Asticrest provides payroll services for businesses in Cyprus, including employer registration, employee onboarding administration, salary calculations, Social Insurance administration and payslips.
  • From our Limassol office, we help Cyprus businesses keep payroll records organised and prepare the information needed for staff payments and statutory reporting. We agree the work, responsibilities and fee before starting.

Payroll support in English

  • Our native English-speaking staff explain the payroll summary, employer costs and information needed each month.
  • We agree who prepares and approves payroll, submits returns, issues payslips and arranges salary and contribution payments.
  • For a wider view of business costs, combine payroll records with monthly management accounts.

Setting up a new employer

  • Assistance with registration at the Social Insurance Services and obtaining an employer registration number.
  • Support with setting up the relevant ERGANI and contribution-reporting access, subject to the required authorisation.
  • Review of the employer’s tax registration and PAYE reporting arrangements, where relevant to the agreed payroll scope.
  • Establishing a payroll calendar, document deadline, approval process and record of employee details.
  • Employer registration should be arranged before the first employee starts. The official ERGANI guidance states that the application must be submitted no later than one day before the applicant becomes an employer.
  • Foreign EU-registered companies can also require Cyprus employer registration. We can assist with the applicable registration process; tax residence and permanent-establishment status need a separate assessment.

Hiring staff: payroll and registration administration

  • Collecting the employee’s identification details, Social Insurance number, tax information, start date and agreed remuneration.
  • Assistance with employee registration where required and new-hire notifications through ERGANI. Official guidance requires recruitment notification no later than one day before recruitment; contact us before the proposed start date.
  • Recording salary, working hours, allowances, overtime arrangements and leave information supplied and approved by the employer.
  • Supporting the administration of required employment information and notifications within the agreed scope.
  • The employer must confirm the employee’s right to work and the applicable employment terms, minimum pay rules and insurance requirements. Payroll registration alone does not establish permission to work in Cyprus.
  • Where employment contracts or legal advice are needed, we can facilitate an introduction to AGP Law under a separate engagement.

Monthly payroll management

  • Calculating gross pay from approved salary, hours, overtime, bonuses and other payroll changes.
  • Calculating applicable employee deductions and employer contributions, including Social Insurance, GHS/GeSY and PAYE where relevant.
  • Taking account of the applicable contribution funds, earnings limits and any documented exemptions, including the Central Holiday Fund where relevant.
  • Preparing a payroll summary showing gross pay, deductions, net pay and employer costs for your approval.
  • Preparing contribution and payroll reporting information and assisting with agreed submissions through the relevant systems.
  • Providing the approved net-pay and contribution amounts for the employer to arrange payment. Payment execution is agreed separately.
  • Maintaining payroll records and coordinating the payroll entries with your bookkeeping.

Social Insurance and deadlines

  • Employer Social Insurance contributions are generally payable by the end of the calendar month following the month to which they relate. Check the applicable working-day rules and any official extension.
  • We help track the payroll calendar and prepare the agreed contribution information in time for approval and payment.
  • Tax withholding returns and payments have separate requirements. Confirm the reporting period and current Tax For All instructions rather than assuming they follow the Social Insurance process.
  • Contribution rates and earnings limits can change. Payroll calculations must use the rules applicable to the pay period and employee’s circumstances.

Payslips for your employees

  • Preparation of individual payslips showing the pay period, earnings, relevant deductions, contributions and net pay, with the required particulars.
  • Cyprus employers must provide a payslip in paper or electronic form within five working days of payment of wages.
  • Agree a secure delivery method and retain evidence of issue or receipt. Access to payroll information should be limited to authorised people.
  • Payslips should reflect the final approved payroll. Notify us promptly of corrections to hours, pay or employee details.

What to send us each month

  • Changes to staff: new starters, leaving dates and changes to salary or employment details.
  • Approved hours, overtime, bonuses, commissions and allowances.
  • Annual leave, sickness, unpaid leave and other absences affecting pay.
  • Details and supporting authorisation for any proposed deductions or adjustments.
  • Your payroll approval and intended salary-payment date.

Payroll questions

Can you help us register as a new employer?

  • Yes. Asticrest assists with employer registration and payroll setup within the agreed scope. Contact us before the first employee starts so the registration and notification requirements can be addressed in time.

What information do you need for monthly payroll?

  • Provide approved salaries or hours, overtime, bonuses, allowances, absences and changes to employee details. Tell us about new starters and leavers and confirm the intended salary-payment date.

Does the service include payslips and Social Insurance administration?

  • These can be included in the agreed payroll service. We prepare payslips and the relevant contribution information, with submission responsibilities and payment arrangements agreed at the start.

Can an existing EU company employ staff in Cyprus?

  • An existing EU company can apply for Cyprus employer registration without incorporating a new Cyprus company. Separate branch-registration and tax questions depend on its activities. Read about Cyprus Registration for Foreign Companies.

How are payroll fees agreed?

  • We discuss employee numbers, pay frequency, payroll complexity, registration work and the administration required, then agree the scope and fee before starting.
